I love playing around with music and trying out new ideas. K-On! is one of my favorite anime shows, and I absolutely love the music in it. Lately, I’ve been diving into the traditional music of my Sundanese culture, and the song Colenak, a classic example of degung music, has been stuck in my mind. Then, I had this wild thought: what if I combined punk and disco, two totally opposite styles. And the result is AnimePunk-Disco??? 🤔
Check out the remix I made here and let me know your thoughts

The art cover is a mix of old-school and modern vibes, visually representing the music’s fusion of punk and disco. Here’s how I brought it to life:
Typography: I used Aksara Sunda (Sundanese script) and Latin letters to combine tradition with a modern look.
Color Palette: Bright orange and neon yellow make it bold and eye-catching.
Visuals: Featuring characters from K-On! added a playful anime connection that perfectly matches the vibe.
90s Aesthetic: The bold shadow text reminds me of old cassette covers, giving it a nostalgic touch.
Layout: Aksara Sunda on one side and Latin letters on the other create a balance between tradition and modernity. The bold title at the top grabs attention, while the clean composition keeps everything easy to follow.
Nostalgic Yet Modern: The design mixes retro elements like bold shadow typography with colorful anime-inspired aesthetics to bring together the best of both worlds.
Together, these parts make the art cover as fun and creative as the remix itself.
Transliteration is such a fun and interesting activity, but it’s also challenging because Sundanese and English are so different. Sundanese has a lot of local cultural context that’s hard to express in English, but I gave it my best shot to share the playful and poetic nature of this classic with more people.

Let’s eat colenak
Tasty and fresh, a healthy snack
Costs just ten cents, that’s a fact
It won’t wreck the contents of your wallet
Colenak dipped is a tasty delight
Even the toothless can take a bite
Go ahead and give it a try
Hot off the grill, can’t pass it by
Colenak, Bandung’s cassava delight
Simple yet special
From nobles to common folk alike
Three plates in, and you’ll still feel right
Colenak dipped is a tasty delight
Renowned across the continent
A creation of the Sundanese hand
A heritage from our ancestors’ land
